What to Bring
Students are responsible for their personal needs and should bring personal items that will make their stay more comfortable. Each room has only a bed, desk, chair, and closet for each student. Each student will also receive one pillow, one pillowcase, two sheets, one blanket, one towel, and one washcloth, though bringing personal linens is allowed. Dorm rooms are basically empty except for furniture.
Essentials
Clothes for both hot and cool weather and business attire for Poster Presentation Day and Closing Ceremony
Comfortable shoes (sneakers), sandals with back strap, and shower flip flops (flip flops are not allowed outside of dorms)
Toiletries or any other personal items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)
Laundry items (detergent, softener, dryer sheets, etc.)
Personal medications, e.g. anything prescribed by a doctor, allergy meds, Excedrin, Pepto Bismol (COSMOS staff will only have a few types of medication, i.e. Tylenol, Advil, etc.)
Laptop computer or e-readers
Alarm clock (a cell phone works too)
Room fan (the dorms do not have A/C)
Swimsuit, sunscreen, beach towel, hats, and anything else that will make the outdoors more comfortable
Snacks (water, soft drinks, chips, microwave popcorn, granola bars, etc.) – the dining hall is only open during certain windows
Backpack
Clothes hangers
A positive attitude!
Optional
Reusable water bottle (Highly recommended. There are filling stations across campus and in the dorms.)
Camera
Board games
Light workout equipment (i.e. jump ropes, small dumbbells, resistance bands, etc) to use in the room and in common spaces (coordinate with your roommate!)
Your favorite pillow or anything else to make the dorm cozy!
Spending money (for vending machines, bookstore, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
Do Not Bring
Your car! You will not be allowed to park on campus.
Valuables (No expensive watches, jewelry, lots of cash, etc.)
Weapons, fireworks, candles
Cigarettes, alcohol, e-cigs, vapes, or drugs
Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, or Razor scooters (or equivalent)
Pets
The University will not be responsible for lost or stolen property in the residence halls.
